Sammy is my Grandson and just simply the apple of my eye. His boundless energy often leaves me drained, but that’s what being a child is all about. Everything has to be done at 90mph, that’s why getting him to sit still as my subject was impossible. So, I worked from a series of photographs that I took as the only means to ‘freeze’ him long enough to draw his portrait, then in a blink of an eye, he was gone again on another mission to save a galaxy or two before teatime.

The picture was drawn on a fine grain heavyweight 120lb Daler Rowney cartridge.
