This is probably the most classical piece of drawing I have done in recent times and there’s nothing more classical than a still life I guess! It was an exercise in composition, control and finish. I do plenty of quick drawing, but I wanted just something with a little finesse to it. So, I gathered some bits and pieces from around the home and put them all together on a cloth and drew them.

Drawn as most of my pencil work is in soft graded pencils on to ‘Daler Rowney’, 200 gram (120lb) Fine Grain Heavyweight Cartridge. This particular paper has a very good ’tooth’ (surface texture) to it and was ideal for this.

The pencil drawing original is for sale measuring 440mm x 210mm to the edge of the drawn areas then there is 50mm extra all round for display mounting etc. It would be supplied unmounted and unframed.
