A sketchbook is essential in my opinion as an artist you are always evolving and coming up with new ideas and thoughts, at some point these have to be put down onto something for future reference. However, it would be so easy if you had your sketchbook with you at all times, this is where I fail miserably! In desperation I put things down onto anything I can lay my hands on at the time and paste them into my sketchbooks at a later date. I scribble on the backs of shopping lists, serviettes, post-it notes, newspapers, anything to hand really, the list of my pencil and pen scribblings is endless. I do know I should be more organised, but, that really takes away some of the fun in it for me. Here are few of my 'constructed' pages to look like I know they probably should do.
